Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band Guitarist Plays The Ridgefield Playhouse

Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band guitarist for more than 25 years, Nils Lofgren has made a name for himself in the music industry, performing with everyone from Ringo Starr and Robert Plant to Neil Young. Bruce Springsteen fans will want to be at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Thursday, June 30, at 8 p.m. when Nils Lofgren performs his acoustic arsenal of songs from more than 40 years as a star guitarist/singer. Lofgren's last solo album The Loner, Nils sings Neil features cover songs by Neil Young. Special guest is Daria Musk, a pop singer/songwriter from Newtown, CT.

From humble beginnings playing the accordion at age 5 to going professional at 17, Nils' 40-year career shows no signs of stopping. Before joining Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band as Steven Van Zandt's replacement on guitar and vocals in 1984 for the Born in the U.S.A. tour, Lofgren was a member of Crazy Horse as well as his own band Grin. An American rock music singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Nils Lofgren joined Neil Young's band when he was just 17, playing piano and guitar on the album After the Gold Rush. Young gave him this role despite Lofgren's lack of experience, but when he was not recording, Lofgren worked hard to perfect his parts. As a solo artist, Lofgren has released more than 40 albums.

Liverpool Daily Post described one of Nils Lofgren's performances: "It was well received, but Nils then raised the roof with a blistering version of "Girl In Motion" - which featured a jaw-dropping six-minute solo that had the crowd spellbound. Classic tune followed classic tune, including songs from his early Grin career, such as the mariachi trumpet-led "Rusty Gun", to '80s favourite "Wonderland" to '90s hit "Black Books", to a blistering "Keith Don't Go"...Just when you thought there could be no more surprises, his sidekick for the night, the outstanding Greg Varlotta, then showed off his dancing skills by producing a wonderful tap routine to "Mud In Your Eye". Not to be outdone, Nils showed he's no slouch on the dance floor as the pair went toe-to-toe, in a fantastic duelling tapdance during yet another classic, "I Came To Dance"."
