2019 CAPA Summer Movie Series Kicks Off With 50¢ Admission For All Showings Opening Weekend June 14-16

The CAPA Summer Movie Series, the longest-running classic film series in America, opens the 2019 series at the Ohio Theatre with Casablanca June 14-16. In celebration of CAPA's 50th anniversary, admission to all four showings during opening weekend is 50¢.
Original Productions Theatre Presents SHAKESPEARE'S BLOODY DEED

Intrigue abounds in the comedy-fantasy Shakespeare's Bloody Deed, a world premiere, by Johnrick Hole. Based on an historical incident, the play imagines events involving Shakespeare, Queen Elizabeth, and the Earl of Essex, among others, as Shakespeare and his players attempt to save their theatre. This production will be staged June 6 - 15, at the Abbey Theater of Dublin, 5600 Post Road, Dublin, OH 43017.
CAPA Announces Headliners For Festival Latino 2019

CAPA today announced the lineup of international artists that will headline Festival Latino 2019 presented by Honda. The two-day, family-friendly, free event will be held Saturday and Sunday, August 10 and 11, from 11 am-8 pm each day in downtown's Genoa Park.

In the vein of 'And Then There Were None,' 'Clue' and 'Murder by Death,' 'The Vultures' puts a modern, comedic, gay spin on the haunted house/mystery genre. On the 20th anniversary of the death of publishing magnate Simon West, his six remaining relatives gather for the reading of his will -- the mysterious housekeeper declares, 'The relatives are swooping in like a wake of vultures ready to pick the carcass clean.' As the night progresses and a storm rages, sanity comes into question and one of the group goes missing. Where did they go? Were they murdered or did they escape? Who will ultimately inherit the fortune? Performances are May 22 thru June 1st, 2019 at the Columbus Performing Arts Center, 549 Franklin Avenue, Columbus, OH 43215. The Harry Potter Film Concert Series returns to Ohio Theatre with Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in Concert, the fourth film in the Harry Potter series. On January 18, the Columbus Symphony will perform the magical score live from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire while the entire film plays in high-definition on a 40-foot screen.

The Columbus Association for the Performing Arts (CAPA) today announced the nominees in all 10 categories of the first-ever CAPA Marquee Awards. Designed to recognize and celebrate the wealth of high-caliber musical theatre talent in central Ohio, the newly created awards program sent adjudicators to performances of each of the 10 participating high schools' musical theatre productions to evaluate nominated students/productions in the categories of Best Actor in a Leading Role, Best Actress in a Leading Role, Best Actor in a Supporting Role, Best Actress in a Supporting Role, Best Musical Production, Best Direction, Outstanding Ensemble Performance, and Outstanding Student Orchestra Performance. Adjudicators also separately evaluated hard-copy submissions in the categories

The CAPA Summer Movie Series, the longest-running classic film series in America, today announced the movie lineup for its 50th series of classic films and cult favorites. Made possible through the generous support of PVS Chemicals, the 2019 Series will run June 14-August 11 at the historic Ohio Theatre (39 E. State St.) and feature 26 films over nine weeks. 2019 highlights include nine series premieres, a silent film with live musical accompaniment, two Saturday mornings of classic cartoons, a sci-fi double feature, a film noir double feature, and Fright Nite Friday with Fritz.

He asks along his friends, Dr. and Mrs. Bradman, intending to gather character inspiration from Madame Arcati for his latest book. Despite initially thinking the seance has been a failure, it soon becomes clear that Madame Arcati has unwittingly brought back Charles' first wife, Elvira, to haunt him. Once in his house, Elvira is unable to leave and, as she cannot be seen or heard by Ruth, she causes all kinds of mischievous trouble between the married couple. Intensely funny and character-driven, Blithe Spirit combines farce, emotion, and wit to great effect. Performances are April 25th thru April 28th at the Columbus Dance Theatre, 592 E.
