JANÁEK Suite from The Cunning Little Vixen RACHMANINOFF Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini LIATOSHYNSKY Grazhyna STRAVINSKY Suite from The Firebird The Cleveland Orchestra Based on one of classical music’s most famous melodies, Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini combines sweeping lyricism with breathless feats of virtuosity. Pianist Inon Barnatan makes his Severance debut with this audience favorite alongside Ukrainian conductor Oksana Lyniv, who pairs it with technicolor works by Janáek and Stravinsky. Rounding out the program is a heartfelt tone poem by 20th-century Ukrainian composer Borys Liatoshynsky.
