Cleveland favorite Augustin Hadelich returns to Severance with Brahms’s exquisite Violin Concerto, which positions its fiendishly difficult solo lines as part of a symphonic whole. Elim Chan also returns to conduct Lutosławski’s three-movement Concerto for Orchestra, an ingenious encapsulation of Polish folk music idioms that brought the composer international renown — and whose American premiere was given in 1958 by none other than The Cleveland Orchestra.
This program’s Concert Preview lectures will be presented by Kevin McBrien, Publications Manager, The Cleveland Orchestra.
