R. STRAUSS Also sprach Zarathustra
DUTILLEUX Tout un monde lointain...
RAVEL La valse
With its instantly recognizable opening, made famous in 2001: A Space Odyssey, Richard Strauss’s Also sprach Zarathustra sounds like the dawn of a new world, a paradigm shift of cosmic proportions. The Cleveland Orchestra debut of conductor Thomas Guggeis ventures toward further worlds in Henri Dutilleux’s Tout un monde lointain… — featuring Principal Cellist Mark Kosower — and Ravel’s delectably decadent La valse.
