Cleveland Public Theatre (CPT) Executive Artistic Director Raymond Bobgan announces an update to the 2016-2017 season lineup, featuring the National New Play Network (NNPN) Rolling World Premiere of THE GHOSTS OF LOTE BRAVO by Hilary Bettis, on stage October 13-29 in CPT's historic Gordon Square Theatre.

Originally scheduled for the spring of 2017, the production is rescheduled to run simultaneously with the 2016-2017 season opener. The CPT production will be performed, as written, in English and directed by Bobgan.

THE GHOSTS OF LOTE BRAVO will feature members of the Teatro Publico de Cleveland ensemble, CPT's resident Latin American Theatre ensemble, along with special guest artists. The CPT production will be made fully bilingual through the use of projected Spanish supertitles.

The world premiere of THE GHOSTS OF LOTE BRAVO is produced in collaboration with the National New Play Network (NNPN), of which Cleveland Public Theatre is a core member.

Nan Barnett, NNPN Executive Director states: "National New Play Network is thrilled that Cleveland Public has been able to be a part of the development of Hilary Bettis' beautiful play through four NNPN programs - its MFA Playwrights' Workshop at the Kennedy Center, the 2014 National Showcase of New Plays held in Sarasota, a workshop in Mexico City with all of the partnering theaters, and its two previous productions in Tucson and Kansas City. CPT's artists will work with Hilary on the next iteration of the script and its audiences will both reap the benefits of this collaborative process and provide further feedback for her as she prepares the play for publication and its subsequent productions around the world."

Magical realism and the brutality of real life collide in this landmark premiere. Set in Mexico's Ciudad Juarez, where young girls often disappear-a mother reaches out to the terrifying Santa Muerte for help in finding her missing daughter. Her appeal unravels the truth of the young woman's yearning, deceit and unflinching courage in the face of poverty and violence.

THE GHOSTS OF LOTE BRAVO previews Thursday, October 13. The production opens Friday, October 14 and runs through Saturday, October 29. Performances are Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Monday nights at 7:30pm in CPT's historic Gordon Square Theatre, located at 6415 Detroit Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44102, located in the heart of Cleveland's Gordon Square Arts District.

CPT's Gordon Square Theatre is fully ADA-accessible, ramped entry and a gender-neutral, wheelchair-accessible restroom.

Tickets are $12 - $30. Students/Seniors receive $3 off on Friday and Saturday nights. Thursdays and Mondays are just $12. Fridays and Saturdays are $30. Purchase online at www.cptonline.org or by calling the CPT Box Office at 216.631.2727 ext 501. CPT doesn't charge ticket fees, ever. Group discounts available for parties of 10+.

The National New Play Network (NNPN) is the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays. We strive to pioneer, implement, and disseminate ideas and programs that revolutionize the way theaters collaborate to support new plays and playwrights.

Since its founding in 1998, the National New Play Network has supported nearly 150 productions nationwide through its innovative Continued Life of New Plays Fund, which creates NNPN Rolling World Premieres of new plays; granted more than a million dollars to its Member theaters, their staffs and affiliated artists; and provided hundreds of playwrights and other theater-makers with developmental workshops, commissions, and paid residencies. Now, after seventeen seasons, hundreds of thousands of Audience members around the world have seen plays that were created and honed with support from NNPN.
