Beck Teen Theater's TWELVE ANGRY JURORS Closes 2/28

By:

Beck Center Teen Theater presents Twelve Angry Jurors through February 28 in the Studio Theater.

Adapted for the stage by Sherman L. Sergel, Twelve Angry Jurors is based on the Emmy Award-winning teleplay Twelve Angry Men by Reginald Rose

A diverse group of strangers must decide the fate of an inner-city teen on trial for the murder of his abusive father. It looks like an open-and-shut case until one of the jurors begins questioning the "real" facts of the case hoping to create reasonable doubt in the minds of his fellow jurors. Tempers flare as prejudices and personal agendas become evident when the group attempts to reach consensus. The American judicial system is as much on trial as the defendant when these 12 jurors dramatically wrestle with their civic duty.

Twelve Angry Jurors features a cast of 13 male and female teenage actors who are students from the Beck Center's Theater Education program. Student cast members have participated in core theater classes at Beck Center, where they explore basic acting skills through improvisation and theater games. They study method acting, as well as develop singing and acting techniques, and are introduced to theater appreciation and basic theater terminology.

"The Studio Theater is the perfect location to explore an issue that is very timely," says Director Jonathan Kronenberger. "The intimate space allows the actors to connect with the audience on a deeply emotional and challenging topic."

Tickets are $12 for adults/seniors and $10 for students/children 18 and under. (Ticket prices include service fees.) Group discounts are available for parties of 13 or more. To reserve tickets, call the Beck Center box office at 216.521.2540 ext. 10. Beck Center is located at 17801 Detroit Avenue in Lakewood, just ten minutes west of downtown Cleveland. Free onsite parking is available.

Beck Center's production of Twelve Angry Jurors is presented through special arrangement with the Dramatic Publishing Company and is sponsored by Cox Communications, Martha Holden Jennings Foundation, and Music is Elementary. The Ohio Arts Council helped fund this production with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans.
