THEATRE ASPEN is seeking a Site Manager for the 2019 summer season.



The Site Manager is responsible for coordinating all site related operations and logistics pertaining to the build, maintenance, and break down of Theatre Aspen’s Hurst Theatre located in the John Denver Sanctuary of the Rio Grande Park in Aspen, Colorado. The Site Manager will work collaboratively with the Production Manager, scheduling, planning, and execution of all activities in the Hurst Theatre. This includes site build, venue maintenance, rental events, vendor services, rehearsals, daily/weekly operations and production schedules.



Reporting to General Management and Production Manager, the Site Manager works closely with Stage Management, Front of House Management and the administrative staff (Producing Director, Company Management, Director of Education, etc.), and supervises all departments when pertaining to site operational tasks.



Requirements:

This position requires excellent organizational and communication skills. A Bachelor’s degree in theatre or event management is desirable, but not required. The following is required:

• 5 years experience with site or facility management.

• Experience with mobile office trailers, tent builds, and on-site waste management.

• Proficient knowledge of general contracting, relating to site operations. i.e. tent builds, rigging, carpentry, plumbing, flooring, roofing, electrical, HVAC.

• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Drive, and other industry related software. Ability to read and work off of a CAD (AutoCAD, Vectorworks, etc.).

• A valid drivers license in good standing (a copy of the applicant’s driving record my be requested).

• Experience with heavy machinery and trailers; Fork Lift and Scissor Lift certified.

• Knowledge and experience of proper safety protocols as pertains to site operations i.e. OSHA regulations, weather restrictions, etc.

• Strong organizational, budgeting, leadership, and staffing skills.

• A broad but proficient understanding of all aspects of technical theatre.

• Negotiating and acting as mediator in artistic and technical discussions, including problem solving.

• Experience consulting on, monitoring, and adhering to budgets.

• The ability to lift 75 lbs, climb ladders, and perform manual labor on a regular basis. The ability to perform additional and repetitive physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting, bending, standing, climbing, and/or walking.

• Possessing excellent communication skills, the ability to manage shifting and competing priorities, exercise good judgment and discretion, and maintain a positive attitude in stressful environments.

• The ability to be on-call during the run of productions for any potential site operational problems.

• The ability to work long hours throughout term of contract as needed.



Responsibilities:

• Vendor advancement, contracting, and negotiating. i.e. Tent maintenance, porta-lisa, potable water, drinking water, swamp coolers, waste management services, and trailer rentals.

• Liaison between Aspen city departments and Theatre Aspen. i.e. Aspen Parks Department, Aspen Fire Department, Aspen Police Department, EMS, etc.

• Managing site related finances. Making sure site related invoices, over-hire paperwork and payroll are submitted and reconciled.

• Facilitate, as needed, operational equipment and rentals. i.e. box truck, trailers, production transport logistics.

• Acts as on-site operations manager for special events. i.e. rental events, receptions, special gatherings, and more.

• Theatre maintenance and upkeep. This includes maintenance of trailers, porta-lisa, BOH/Production area, house, lobby, concessions, box office, and patio. Most tasks will take place in-house unless outside contracting is needed.

• Acts as one of the Safety Officers, supervising all staff. In conjunction with the Production Manager, will analyze and assess weather conditions pertaining to all on-site productions and activities.

• Works in conjunction with Production Manager and production crew to ensure that site related needs of Theatre Aspen are met on schedule.



Terms of employment:

• May – August

• Compensation: weekly salary

• Local candidates preferred. Housing not provided.
