Marketing Manager - New York Musical Festival

The New York Musical Festival (NYMF) seeks a creative, entrepreneurial, and hands-on marketing professional for the position of Marketing Manager.



Description

The Marketing Manager oversees the marketing and advertising activities for the annual New York Musical Festival and the design and execution of all promotional materials for the Festival. In addition, the Marketing Manager is integral to the overall process of preparing the three-week-long Festival event. This individual takes steps to measure, enhance, and enrich the position and image of the organization and is a representative for the organization externally with the theater community, stakeholders, media partners, sponsors, funders and other groups and individuals.



This is a seasonal position, lasting from March 5, 2018, to August 31, 2018.



Duties

- Responsible for overseeing the organization’s marketing activities under the direction of the Executive Director.

- Oversight of Marketing Intern(s)

- Development and maintenance of relationships with outside media partners and sponsors

- Assist incoming Festival productions with building their marketing materials and effectively promoting their shows for the Festival

- Collaborate with the other staff to devise and manage written materials related to NYMF programs and individual projects within the Festival

- Creation of Festival Program Guide and related ad sales.

- Creative design and execution of promotional materials including outdoor advertising, direct mail pieces, e-blasts, venue signage and credential badges

- Maintain organization website

- Maintain organization social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram

- Development and maintenance of Festival media plan

- Coordinate press activities with Festival press representative

- Oversee Festival Pass sales

- With Management and Audience Services teams, monitor ticket sales and create discounts accordingly

- Measure and report performance of marketing campaigns, gain insight and assess against goals



Requirements:

- 2 years related theatrical marketing experience

- Passion for musical theater, and knowledge of current musical theater landscape

- Proven ability to work successfully as a collaborator on complex theatrical projects

- Exceptional interpersonal communications skills

- Exceptional computer skills including Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop and InDesign, MailChimp

- Ability to work effectively for long hours in a high-pressure environment over an extended period

- Familiarity with the latest trends, technologies and methodologies in graphic design, web design, production, etc.

- Good taste, a sense of aesthetics and a love for great copy and witty communication

- Candidate must be willing and able to work weekends and evenings as required by the events schedule.

- Helpful, but not essential, skills and experiences:

- Experience managing one or more direct-report staff or interns

- Experience using SalesForce

- NYMF or other major theater festival experience

- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree
