Week long Drama Camp at the Covedale Starts

The Covedale Center for the Performing Arts continues its new CYPT Prep Program for young performers, ages 10 through 13 this summer!

Classes will encompass acting, improvisation, theatre skills and a final performance on the Covedale Center for the Performing Arts stage - and all taught by experienced instructors and professional guest artists.

Cincinnati Young People's Theatre (CYPT) Prep program will be an excellent preparation for young performers who may wish to audition for the award-winning Cincinnati Young People's Theatre teen program or audition for "the Covedale's" regular season shows (when age-appropriate roles are available in a cast) when they are old enough.

Summer Drama Day Camp classes will be:
Monday - Friday June 13 - 17, 2011. 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Start Date: Monday, June 13, 2011 - End Date: Friday, June 17, 2011
Final performance on Friday, June 17th @ 4:00 pm; free and open to the public

Classes will be held in the Rehearsal Studio, located in the new backstage addition to the Covedale Center for the Performing Arts.

The After School Drama Program will feature experienced instructors:

Allison Hinkel, Instructor is a recent graduate from Northern Kentucky University with a BA in Theatre. Allison was born and raised on the West Side of Cincinnati and is a graduate of Mother of Mercy High School where she enjoyed four years of excellent theatrical experiences! Allison got the ‘Cincinnati Young People's Theatre bug' when she performed with the program during high school. Following high school, Allison joined the Covedale staff as a performer, stage manager and box office assistant. She has four years of experience as a children's theatre instructor through the TheatreWorks program and has been pleased to expand her work with CYPT through helping develop and teach the CYPT Prep classes since Fall of 2009. This summer Allison is thrilled to be working with this summer's talented group of kids from CYPT Prep AND stage managing CYPT's production of Crazy for You!

Abby Bartish, Instructor -is a recent graduate of the 2011 class of Ursuline Academy. She has enjoyed participating and teaching in various theatre programs in past years around the city such as the Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music Preparatory Department, Cincinnati Young People's Theatre, Theatre Xavier, and Ursuline Academy to name a few. Next year, Abby is attending Indiana University to pursue a BFA in Musical theatre with a minor in dance.

Tuition for CYPT Prep is just $100.00 for the week plus performance. This program is supported by Artswave, "Arts In My Own Back Yard" Summer Grant program.

Target class size is 25 participants. Admission to the final performance is free.

Admission the program is on a first-come basis. Registration is available immediately. Registration closing deadline is Thursday, June 9, 2011.
