Acclaimed as “ one of the most promising future Stars of music in China” by the People’s Daily News--China’s most important newspaper, pianist Lu Wang is the first Chinese Pianist to receive the prestigious Artist Diploma from the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University, after graduating from the famed Juilliard School in New York City with Masters Degrees in Piano Performance. The legendary Chinese pianist Fou T’song describes Lu Wang’s music making as” deeply felt and emotional, deeply sincere and deeply touching”. In 2010, Mr. Wang was appointed as Artistic Director of Toronto International Piano Competition, became the youngest Artistic Director of any international piano competitions in the world. Same year, he established his own piano academy in his hometown of China. The Academy now has over hundreds of piano students and many of them are frequent winners of provincial and national piano competitions in China.

Lu Wang’s performances are regularly broadcast on TV and radio stations in China and Canada. He has appeared as soloist with all major orchestras in China including the China National Symphony, Hong Kong Philharmonic, China National Ballet Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra and Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra. He has established a career performing throughout the U.S., Canada, China and Europe given concerts and recitals in many prestigious halls, including AliceTully Hall at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, The Juilliard Theatre,Weil Recital Hall of the Carnegie Hall, Steinway Hall and Merkin Concert Hall in New York, Rose Wagner Concert Hall in Salt Lake City, Theatre de Vervey in Switzerland, Chamber Music Hall of the Warsaw Philharmonic in Poland, Composers’ Union in St. Petersburg, Russia, Recital Hall at Seoul Arts Center in Korea, P.C. Ho Theatre and CBS’s Glenn Gould studio in Toronto, Hong Kong’s Performing Arts Center, Shanghai Langxin Opera House, Shanghai Oriental Center for the Performing Arts, Beijing ZhongShan Concert Hall, Xinghai Concert Hall and Shanghai Concert Hall. Mr. Wang’s performances are frequently heard on Classical 96.3 FM in Toronto, he also makes regular media appearances at CTV’s Bravo! &CP24TV, Fairchild TV, Roger TV and Omni TV in Canada. Mr. Wang performs in many international music festivals such as Shanghai Spring Festival, Banff Summer Music Festival, and Music Academy of the West, Piano Texas, Bowdoin International Music Festival., Piano Fest and Hamamatsu International Academy.

Mr. Wang starts studying the piano at the age of 4. A child prodigy, he made his recital debut at the age of 6. During the same year, he toured Japan with a group of young artists and gave over twenty concerts under the sponsorship of the Chinese National Culture Exchange Program. At the age of 8, he captured the first prize at the China’s National Piano Competition for Young Artists, at which the now world-renowned pianist Lang Lang was among the finalists. Mr. Wang subsequently made a remarkable orchestral debut with the Shanghai Conservatory Orchestra in the same year, playing Mozart Piano Concerto in F major KV459 and recorded his first commercial CD under the Singapore Recording Label. After winning first prizes at the 13th Hong Kong International Piano Competition, the Woodmere International Music Competition, and the Stravinsky International Piano Competition, he received the Panasonic Scholar Award and made his debut in the U.S., performing Chopin Piano Concerto No. 1 in Alice Tully Hall of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts with the New York Symphonic Ensemble at the age of 16. New York Times writes about his performance “maturity and artistry far beyond his age-a young pianist with a great future”.

Giving back to the community has always been a top priority for Lu. He serves as Youth Ambassador for the Chinese Culture Center of Greater Toronto in Canada. In 2009, he gave his sold-out Canadian debut in Toronto, in which he donated the concert’s proceeds to the Chinese Cultural Center of Greater Toronto’s Sichuan Earthquake Rebuilding Fund.

Mr. Wang has studied with renowned Chinese Composer/ Pianist Wang Jian Zhong; Nina Svetlanova , Yoheved Kaplinsky , Jerome Lowenthal and Yong Hi Moon in the US; Arie Vardi and Klaus Hellwig in summer festivals and regularly attended Master Classes of Leon Fleisher, Elisso Virsaladze , Karl Heinz Kammerling, Cecile Ousset, Stefano Fuizzi, Oxana Yablonskaya, Vladimir Feltsman, Christopher Elton, Hamish Milne, Robert McDonald and Byron Janis. He also worked extensively with Philip Kwan and Dang Thai Son.
