Earthquakes, tidal waves, towering infernos and the unforgettable songs of the ‘70’s take center stage in “DISASTER,” Broadway’s side splitting send-up of the 1970s disaster film genre. With a book by three-time Emmy Award nominee and SiriusXM On Broadway host, Seth Rudetsky, and Jack Plotnick – “DISASTER” features such hits as “Knock on Wood,” “I Will Survive,” “Sky High,” “Hooked on a Feeling,” and “Hot Stuff.”
It’s 1979, and New York’s hottest A-listers are lining up for the opening of a floating casino discotheque. Along for the adventure is a faded disco star, a sexy nightclub singer with her 11-year old twins, a disaster expert, a feminist reporter, an older couple with a big secret, an untrustworthy businessman, and a nun with a gambling addiction. What begins as a night of “boogie fever” quickly escalates to panic as the ship succumbs to a series of comical disasters. As night turns to day, everyone struggles to survive and, quite possibly, repair the love they’ve lost… or at least escape the piranhas and killer rats.
