Theatre Seven of Chicago, recipient of the 2012 Emerging Theater Award, presents the Chicago premiere of EXIT, PURSUED BY A BEAR by Lauren Gunderson, directed by Cassy Sanders, playing June 7 – July 15, 2012 at the Greenhouse Theater Center Upstairs Studio, 2257 N. Lincoln Ave. in Chicago.  The production features Theatre Seven company member Tracey Kaplan with Ryan Hallahan, Ryan Lanning and Elizabeth Hope Williams.  Tickets are currently on sale at www.theatreseven.org or by calling (773) 404-7336.  The press opening is Monday, June 11 at 7:30 pm.

Nan decides it's finally time to leave her abusive husband Kyle and make a run for it… but not until she's tied him up, surrounded him with venison meat and invited the neighborhood bear in for a snack. Oh, and she'll also need to re-enact scenes from their marriage alongside an actress/stripper with a passion for Shakespeare and her gay best friend, who brings cheerleading poms and sass to spare.  EXIT, PURSUED BY A BEAR is a gut-busting, outrageous revenge comedy about dreams, healing and the simple joy of tying a dickhead to the living room chair.

"It's difficult to find plays that are both genuinely hilarious and also look at a very serious issue and truly have something thoughtful, surprising and humane to say about it," comments Theatre Seven Managing Artistic Director Brian Golden. "The fact that Lauren's play is all of the above and a gut buster is something of a miracle. We can't wait to tell our audience this story," adds Golden.

The creative team for EXIT, PURSUED BY A BEAR includes: John Wilson (scenic design), Brenda Winstead (costume design), Mac Vaughey (lighting design), Jeff Kelley (sound design), Thea Wigglesworth (props design), Kyle Hamman(video design), Orion Couling (fight design), Adam Goldstein (dialect coach), Shauna Warren (stage manager) andMike Dunbar (production manager).
