The Mill's Etcetera VIII Festival Opens At Prop Theater 4/26

The Mill presents the eighth incarnation of the Etcetera Festival. Etcetera VIII opens Sunday, April 26, 2009 at 8pm at the Prop Thtr 3502 N. Elston, Chicago in the rear theatre. Run time is approximately one hour and fifteen minutes; there is no intermission. Etcetera VIII is four nights of contemporary, experimental, progressive, and interdisciplinary live performance. The purpose of the event is to celebrate the multiplicity of performance styles and to unite audiences and artists from different disciplines. The length of each piece varies from 5-15 minutes. The show is produced in association with The Prop Thtr.

Etcetera VIII will run Sunday through Wednesday at 8PM April 26 - 29. Programming will alternate evenings so that Program A will run Sunday and Tuesday and Program B will run Monday and Wednesday. Admission for one evening is $15; Festival Passes, which allow entry to both programs, are $20. Tickets are available through Brown Paper Tickets at www.themilltheatre.org. Excerpts from THE DRESS SHOW (The Mill) An ensemble created devised piece that examines our connection to formal wear and the events they emblemize.
BUTTERFLY KISSES EFFECT Through interactive performance Gretchen Holmes and Ross Moreno enact a couple's process for fabricating understanding in a story framed by a sensitive, agoraphobic man and his golden-throated ventriloquist dummy's rise to the top of karaoke stardom.
THREE LENNON FUGE (Ruckus Theatre) Three interwoven multimedia solo pieces that explore the ideas of family, mortality, love, and the enduring in?uence of John Lennon.
AMY SUMPTER Original stand-up comedy.
STEPHANIE SHERLINE and FRIENDS Improvised musical comedy.

CONVERSATION IN TRANSIT (Kate McGroarty) A solo poetry and physical exploration of the world inside the CTA.
CHRIS CHURCHILL Charming, unhurried, observations, stories and songs about love, weirdness and birds.
FLAT GOLD (Adam Shalazi) A physical theatre piece without words.
PLAY (Woodshue Productions) A short play that examines the inner thoughts of a young woman.
THE ELVIS BRIDE BAND A Musical Performance.
JUSTIN COOPER Interactive Performance.

The Mill, a not for profit organization, is a member of the League of Chicago Theatres. The Mill promotes progressive performance and theatrical risk taking. It produces artistically challenging work that is progressive in form and content.

Prop Thtr is opening its 28th season as Chicago's oldest and most productive off-loop new work Theater, a founding member of the burgeoning National New Play Network.
