'The Allegro!!! Show'…so much more than just a concert!!!

By:

Village Players Theatre Oak Park's Performing Arts Center Presents:

If the typical string ensemble concerts leave you wanting more, The Allegro!!! Show is ready to revolutionize the way you view string instruments!

So much more than just a concert, The Allegro!!! Show is an entertaining and intensely theatrical experience. A multimedia presentation, Allegro!!! consists of not only live musical performance, but also choreography, costumes, lighting and video visual effects. The Allegro!!! String Performance Ensemble is made up of 16 talented students ranging in age from 9 - 15. The members all study violin or cello at the Western Springs School of Talent Education or the Naperville Suzuki School. These extraordinarily gifted performers have delighted audiences in venues across North America, including the Illinois All-State Music Festival, the Suzuki Association of the Americas National Conference, New Orleans, and as far away as Hamilton, Bermuda, San Juan, and Puerto Rico.

This refreshingly unique concept was developed by director Edward Kreitman, after realizing the need to motivate his young string students with more than just typical classical performance experiences. While the highest musical standard is always the first priority in the show, the additional theatrical and performance aspects make the event substantially more appealing to both the performers and the audiences. The show includes 14 musical numbers demonstrating an eclectic array of styles including folk, dance, pop, country, and classical. The show uses a variety of ensemble and solo combinations showcasing the individual talents in the group.

The Allegro!!! Show will perform Saturday, May 3, 2008 at 3 & 7 PM and Sunday, May 4, 2008 at 3 & 6 PM.  Tickets are $20 for Adults and $10 for Children & Seniors. Additionally, The Allegro!!! Show is offering two educational concerts for students on Friday, May 2, 2008 at 11 AM & 1 PM.  Tickets for these special performances are $7 per student.

Presented in the Mainstage Theater of the newly renovated Village Players Theatre located at 1010 W. Madison St., Oak Park. Plenty of parking is available on the street. The theater is handicap accessible; please call ahead to arrange for special seating. Tickets available at www.village-players.org or by calling 866-764-1010.
