Short Story Theatre Performs at Laughing Chameleon, 3/5

Short Story Theatre, a story-telling troupe of local writers, will present an evening of storytelling on Tuesday, March 5, at 7:00 p.m. at the Laughing Chameleon, 1830 Tower Drive, in Glenview in the Glen.

Four storytellers, including Susan Block of Highland Park, Denise Kirshenbaum of Wilmette, Ron Levitsky of Lake Forest, and Donna Lubow of Riverwoods will tell truestories about thought bubbles, cooking groups, friends, and enemies.

Advance tickets at $10 each are available at www.laughingchameleon.com or at the door after 6:00 p.m. Food is available, and there is a two-drink minimum.

Susan Block is a painter/actress. She shows her paintings all over the world and has had thirty one-woman painting shows. She has also starred in about thirty plays, garnering a Joseph Jefferson nomination for best actress for her portrayal of Martha in "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf" at Red Wolf Theater Company, where she was the Artistic Director. She learned about writing stories at The Writer's Loft.

Denise Kirshenbaum has been writing since 2000, studying with Nancy Beckett at Lakeside Writing Studio where she was a member for many years. Now, a one-on-one writing coach herself, Denise blends her writing experience with visual and production skills honed during a 20-year photography career to help clients of all levels achieve their writing goals. Her essays have appeared in literary journals, on the web, and in national magazines, including More and The Bark.

Ron Levitsky is a retired educator who currently serves as Trustee for West Deerfield Township, writes a monthly local political column, and hosts a public access TV show, "Friends of Ron." In addition, Ron has published four mystery novels and several short stories, four of which have been anthologized.

Donna Lubow has taught English Literature and drama and has directed and performed in numerous plays. She is a co-founder of Highland Park Players, Theatre in the Woods in Riverwoods, and ARTicuLIT Readers Theatre, as well as a founding member of Attic Playhouse. She has worked with several other theatres including Apple Tree, Academy Festival Theatre, Touchstone Theatre, and Imagination Theatre.
