The Stephen Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts has released tickets for the inaugural Winter/Spring 2008 Season. A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, winner of 15 awards including the Tony for Best Musical, will open the season January 11 - 27. Television and Broadway star Richard Kind will perform the starring role of Pseudolus.

Kind is well known for his roles on the hit sitcoms "Mad About You" and "Spin City." He has also appeared on "Two and a Half Men," "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and has a recurring role on "Scrubs." Film work includes a role in close friend George Clooney's directorial debut Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. In the theatre, Kind starred in Broadway's mega-hit The Producers and created the role of Addison Mizner in Sondheim and Weidman's musical Bounce at Chicago's Goodman Theatre and The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

Kind will be joined by other Broadway performers including Joel Blum as Senex, Stephen DeRosa as Marcus Lycus, Sean McCall as Hysterium, and StEve Wilson as Miles Gloriosus. Blum is a two-time Tony Award nominee for his performances in Steel Pier and Show Boat and has appeared in TV episodes of "Law and Order," "Ed" and "The Sopranos." DeRosa most recently appeared on Broadway in Hairspray and as the Baker in the Vanessa Williams revival of Into The Woods. McCall, in addition to performing in New York, has been delighting audiences at The Old Creamery Theatre in Amana, Iowa for over sixteen years as the head of their residential company. Wilson appeared on Broadway in The Frogs, Lestat and By Jeeves, and can be seen in the film The Producers.

Directed by Randal K. West, the Sondheim Center's founding artistic director, the production team includes Justin Hill (musical director), Adam Cates (choreographer), and Michael Cassara (casting).  …Forum follows up on the success of the Center's opening gala weekend in December, 2007, when an all-star cast including Kind, Liz Callaway, Len Cariou, Donna Lynne Champlin, Kristin Huffman and Pamela Myers performed an all-Sondheim concert to celebrate the opening of the 522-seat theatre.

The second show of the inaugural season will be Company, by Stephen Sondheim and George Furth, directed by Gordon Greenberg, which will be performed as a concert musical February 20 - 24. The season will conclude April 17 - May 4 with the hit rock musical Godspell by composer/lyricist Stephen Schwartz. Casting is currently underway for both productions.

Individual tickets for A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum range in price from $28 - $58. Groups of 20 or more are eligible for discounts, and lodging/travel packages are available for those who would like to make a visit to Fairfield from afar.
