Remy Bumppo to Partner with Mikva Challenge for BOTH YOUR HOUSES Previews

Remy Bumppo Theatre Company will be partnering with Mikva Challenge for the first three preview performances of their upcoming production of Both Your Houses, by the great American playwright Maxwell Anderson.

On October 1, 2, and 4, Remy Bumppo will offer complimentary tickets to the first 25 persons who bring a cash donation for Mikva Challenge. The tickets will be available at the Greenhouse Box Office on a first-come, first-served basis (while the supply lasts), beginning one hour before the 7:30pm curtain time.

For the past two seasons, Remy Bumppo has partnered with local not-for-profit organizations in an effort to connect the community to the themes of their plays and inspire deeper conversations. For example, last season Remy Bumppo partnered with Open Books to hold a book drive during Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey and partnered with Lake View Food Pantry to run a food drive during J.B. Priestley's socially consciousAn Inspector Calls.

While looking for a partner for Both Your Houses, Remy Bumppo felt that Mikva Challenge was the perfect fit.

"Anderson believed that citizens have to be engaged in their own government," says Producing Artistic Director Nick Sandys. "While he believed in the necessity of government, Anderson also believed that the government must be monitored by an active citizenship. Democracy needs the participation of every voter."

Mikva Challenge inspires that kind of active citizenship through the education of youth.

Mikva Challenge develops youth to be informed, empowered, and active citizens and community leaders. Mikva engages over 6,000 Chicagoland teens annually in hands-on, authentic democratic experiences and leadership skill-building.

Remy Bumppo hopes this partnership will achieve three main goals: first, to raise awareness and support for Mikva Challenge; second, to provide an opportunity for people to see the show who otherwise might not be able to afford tickets; and third, to get as many people as possible involved and engaged in the conversation.

Says Sandys, "Having the next generation of voters be informed is the best investment in our country- and the democratic process - that we can make."
