Behind the walls of an aging apartment building, the reclusive neighbors' lives are being closely monitored.  Against this Orwellian backdrop, Ned invents a story to win his neighbor's heart.  But the arrival of a stranger threatens to unveil their darkest secrets.

Jennifer Barclay, Playwright
Jennifer Barclay is a playwright, actor and screenwriter whose plays have been produced and developed nationally and internationally by companies including Steppenwolf,  InterNational Theatre of Vienna,  Edinburgh Fringe, Kennedy Center, Piven, Teatro Vista, Remy Bumppo, American Theatre Company, NY Theatre Experiment, Looking Glass, Beyond the Wall Productions, Moxie, Collaboraction and Stage Left. Later this season, her play Freedom, NY will have its world premiere at Teatro Vista. As an actress, Jennifer has performed in Austria, Scotland, Chicago, California and New York, and has toured her one-woman show, Clearing Hedges, far and wide. Residencies include Hawthornden International Writers Retreat (Scotland) and Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. Awards include Samuel Goldwyn Writing Award, Kennedy Center National Science Playwriting Award, Final Draft Big Break, Pinter Review, San Francisco Fringe Best Dramatic Solo, Northwestern's Mary Margaret Linn Award, and she's been a finalist for both Princess Grace and the Heideman Award.  Jennifer is a graduate of Northwestern University's theatre program and UC San Diego's MFA playwriting program under the mentorship of Naomi Iizuka. She is currently developing a community-based play with The Old Globe, and is the Playwright in Residence at South Coast Repertory.
 
Julieanne Ehre, Director
Julieanne Ehre is currently an NEA/TCG Fellow at the Goodman Theatre under a Future Leaders New Generations Grant which includes a mentorship in artistic directorship with Robert Falls.  At the Goodman, Ehre has directed readings of Deserts by Hugo Alfredo Hinojosa, Folk Song by Laura Jacqmin and Reykjavik by Richard Rhodes as well as created/produced the "Artists Talk" series, among other programming.  Ehre served as Artistic Director of Greasy Joan & Co. for five years where she directed and produced premiere adaptations of classics including: a reading of Anthrax by Ann Marie Healy, the Chicago premiere of Sueño by José Rivera, the world premiere of Nilo Cruz and Karin Coonrod's House of Bernada Alba and the American premiere of Pam Gems' Lady from the Sea after its run in London's West End. She also directed Macbeth, The Oresteia, The Nose, Antigone, Dreams of Desire and Marisol for Greasy Joan & Co.  Ehre has also directed for the Lincoln Center Theater's Directors Lab, Victory Gardens Theater, Curious Theatre Branch, Chicago Dramatists Workshop, Rivendell Theatre Ensemble and Silk Road Theatre Project.  Ehre was assistant director to Mary Zimmerman for the Broadway transfer of Metamorphoses as well as to Tina Landau at Steppenwolf Theatre Company.  She holds an MFA in Directing from Northwestern University and is the mother of Esther and Avi and wife of Hans Detweiler.

Red Tape Theatre Company, now in its seventh season, is committed to the creation of new and experimental work. Red Tape's plays invite our audiences to reimagine their world. Red Tape's work serves a vital purpose in our community: to arrest attention and create empathy. Our ensemble collaborates with playwrights, musicians, dancers, and visual artists on our two mainstage productions. This work is supported by our Fresh Eyes Playwrights Workshop and the Chicago Fringe Artist Networking Night, both of which are produced annually. Red Tape is housed in St. Peter's Episcopal Church.  The unique performance space allows us to continually reinvent the audience/artist relationship.
