Random Acts is pleased to announce casting for the one-night event reading of SLACK by Caitlin Turnage. Directed by Random Acts Artistic Director Bryan Renaud, the reading will feature artistic associates Tommy Rivera-Vega, currently appearing in LA HAVANA MADRID from Teatro Vista and Goodman Theatre; Ben F. Locke, now leading Metropolis Arts Centers' production of PETER AND THE STARCATCHER; and Shannon Webber, who appeared as Carol in Random Acts' smash-hit LADIES NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD.

The reading will be presented at Galway Arms (2442 N. Clark St, Chicago) on Monday, August 21, 2017 at 8:00pm.

random acts is dedicated to presenting unpredictable and diverse genres of theatre. we strive to create approachable art with no expectations.

Since March 2015, random acts has presented 9 productions (including four world premieres and one Chicago premiere) through which the company featured the work of 97 actors, 12 writers, 7 directors and 17 designers while performing at 8 venues including 4 theatres, a bar, an empty storefront, a cafe, and a gymnasium.

ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT:

Caitlin Turnage holds a degree in B.F.A Playwriting and Dramaturgy from the University of Houston. She's currently pursuing her masters at Texas State University. She's a co-founder of Ignition Theatre Productions a student run group operating out of the University of Houston. Her play "It's a fine day for a picnic" was featured in the first ever University of Houston ten-minute play fest, and her play "To Charlie" was featured in last years festival. Recently she was named as a National Finalist for the Gary Garrison National Ten Minute Play Contest for her play "Jigsaw Cactus" which was read in Washington D.C. as part of the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. The play also went to L.A. where it was performed as part of Scribe Stages "Motel Plays: Lost and Found". Caitlin's one-act play "Routine" was named a National Semi-Finalist of the John Cauble One- Act contest, her one-act "In a Darkroom, The Lord Knows" was recently named the recipient of the National John Cauble Short Play award. Her play "The Holes in Human Flesh" was selected to be developed at the ATHE conference in 2017 and selected as a participant for the 42nd Samuel French OOB festival. She's a past attendee of the Dorsett Theatre Writer's retreat in partnership with Theresa Rebeck and the Lark.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR:

Bryan Renaud is an actor, director, and playwright. With Random Acts, he has premiered All Our Twilight and Strangest Things! The Musical (co-authored with Emily Schmidt, winner of 4 Chicago Theatre Awards including Best Production of a Musical) and Ladies Night of the Living Dead. He is the Associate Artistic Director of The Other Theatre Co., where he premiered his plays Barney the Elf and Other Letters. Other plays include Twelfth Night of the Living Dead (produced internationally) as well as Lion and Nasty Women, both coming in 2018. He has also worked with with American Theater Company, Pride Films & Plays, Provision Theater, Music Theatre Company, Greatworks, Prologue Theatre, Oak Park Festival, Gorilla Tango, Two Pigs Productions, and Nothing Without a Company. www.BryanRenaud.com
