Open Casting Call for 'Altar Boyz' in Chicago
Producers are seeking young men, ages 19-25, for the Chicago production of the award-winning musical comedy Altar Boyz, now playing at Drury Lane Water Tower Place, 175 E. Chestnut St. in Chicgao. All potential "boyz" must have strong pop vocals, solid hip-hop dance ability, and excellent comedic instincts. Open auditions will be held at Lou Conte Dance Studio, 1147 W. Jackson St., Studio C, on Friday, February 1. 2008 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Musical Director Alan Bukowiecki conducts a band on-stage comprised of Jeremy Ramey on keyboard, Ethan Deppe on drums, and Malcolm Ruhl on guitar. Radio legend Roy Leonard can be heard as "the Voice of G.O.D." Since its debut in September of 2004 at the New York Musical Theatre Festival, and opening Off-Broadway in 2005, Altar Boyz has been lifting souls across the United States, as well as in Korea and Hungary, and was recently voted "Fan Favorite - Longest Running Off-Broadway Show" in the Broadway.com Awards.The New York production also won the 2005 Outer Critics Circle Award for Best off-Broadway Musical and was nominated for seven 2005 Drama Desk Awards including Best Music, Best Lyrics, Best Book and Best Musical.
