New Village Arts is thrilled to be producing the West Coast premiere of Generous Theatre Company's production of Yury Klavdiev's I AM THE MACHINE GUNNER for one weekend only in Carlsbad Village.  TimeOut Chicago called the show "A darkly fascinating meditation on the allure and reality of extreme violence" and WYPR (Public Radio in Maryland) writes that MACHINE GUNNER "looks and sounds as dangerous as almost anything I've ever seen on stage."

The play, in a new translation by John Freedman, explores violence by comparing a modern day Russian gang member with his grandfather, who was a machine gunner in World War II.  It's the kind of play you hold your breath through and speak about long after it's over.  It features an outstanding Equity actor, James Knight, who has appeared in regional theatres around the country (including The Old Globe, Portland Center Stage, Alabama Shakespeare Festival and many more).  Mr. Knight is available for interviews with the press on Thursday and Friday.  To schedule an interview, please contact Kristianne Kurner at kristianne@newvillagearts.org or 760-213-6860.
