Muse of Fire, the dynamic one-man play that explores the influence of legendary classical music conductor and teacher Charles Bruck, makes its Chicago premiere at Theatre Building Chicago (1225 W. Belmont Ave) with performances February 14 - March 23.

Directed by the late Tony Award-winning actor and Broadway director Charles Nelson Reilly, Muse of Fire premiered at the Acadia Repertory Theater in Bar Harbor, Maine in 2005, and has received rave reviews on the East Coast prior to its Chicago premiere.

"Based on true events, Muse of Fire reveals the secrets of the art of conducting and the importance of great music as a vessel for universal emotions while dramatizing David Katz's experiences studying under Charles Bruck (1911-1995), the notorious Master Teacher of the Pierre Monteux Conducting School in Maine. Known for his tyrannical outbursts of legendary proportions and acerbic wit, Bruck is widely recognized as one of the 20th century's greatest teachers of conducting. For 26 years, Bruck ruled over the renowned conducting school where he mentored hundreds of conductors who now lead orchestras all over the world. Hugh Wolff, former music director of the Grant Park Music Festival, Alexander Platt, resident conductor of Chicago Opera Theater, and Ludovic Morlot, assistant conductor of the Boston Symphony, were all former students of Bruck's at the Monteux School," explain press notes.
