BEYOND THERAPY is a hilarious farce that tells the story of Bruce and Prudence, two flailing 30-somethings who are deeply into therapy with doctors who have bigger problems than they do. His therapist interacts with her patients with the help of a stuffed Snoopy doll and hers is a macho pig overly concerned with his own prowess. Bruce and Prudence meet each other several times through multiple personal ads, but when they decide to try and have a serious relationship, both therapists and ex-lovers force their way between them leaving the unlikely lovers to navigate the treacherous waters of maintaining sanity on their own. Beyond Therapy is a hilarious satire on relationships, personal ads, and of course therapy.

Beyond Therapy was written by Christopher Durang, the Tony Award winning American playwright known for works of outrageous and often absurd comedy. His most well-known plays include Sister Mary Ignatious Explains It All For You and Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike (2013 Tony Award for Best Play).

BEYOND THERAPY stars Ellen Cribbs as Prudence and Jeff Broitman as Bob. Cribbs was last seen at Skokie Theatre as Lennie in MadKap's production of Crimes of the Heart. Broitman was last seen as Teddy Lloyd in MadKap's production of The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. Joining them are Michael Bromberg as Dr. Framingham, Vered Hankin as DR. Wallace, Josh Pennington as Bob, and Frank Menolascino as Andrew.

BEYOND THERAPY is directed by Wayne Mell, with lighting design by Andrew Vanderbye and costume design by Wendy Kaplan. Katie Shook is the properties designer and Cate Anderson is the stage manager.

About Skokie Theatre

The Skokie Theatre was originally built in 1912 and served as the local movie theatre for the people who lived in the Skokie area. The building fell into disrepair, until 2006 when the Skokie Valley Music Foundation spent over 1.2 million dollars to refurbish it and create a music hall that is unlike any other in the area. Its 140 comfortable seats, perfect acoustics, and elegant art deco architecture makes it a Skokie landmark. MadKap Productions took over management of the building in February, 2014 with the goal of establishing a full-time performing arts center. When not presenting plays, audiences can experience cabaret and concerts, dance, and comedy acts.
