MY DINNER WITH MUSIC Begins 10/16 at Gorilla Tango

Won't you guess who's coming to dinner? Laughs. That's who. Nealshow Productions, the sick geniuses who brought you the gag-a-minute joyride "My Boy," will present a world-premiere original play, "My Dinner With Music." "My Dinner With Music" will premiere Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 9 pm, and subsequently run Thursdays and Fridays October 23 through November 14, 2014 at 7:30 pm. (No show Friday, October 17.) It's the Great Harvest of 1991, and all is not well in the world of "My Dinner With Music." Three years have passed since The Geicsmen played their last gig at the Belmont Whore House. The luckier band members have released failed solo albums that stalk the shelves of Coconuts, while the unluckier band members now do whatever it takes to make an honest (or less-than-honest) dime. But even dimes, unfortunately, have run out. And it is now, for better or worse, time. Time to get the band back together.

Robert Music, everyone's favorite indie rock frontman, has invited you for dinner, and you'd better bring that appetite! Five courses of funny and dessert await as audience members have a front row seat to Robert Music's dinner party of a lifetime. His best pals line up for the chow. Bassist Chimmy Lo just wants to get some shut-eye with his new gal pal, Nance Resneck. Drummer Cass Fangs fingers a long forgotten stomach wound. Guitarist Rim Graniels just wants a drink, and by one drink, he intends to have as many as possible. Erstwhile, Bethany Graniels waits in the shadows - which in this case means Robert's garage - for the ball to drop...right on her heart!

Don't miss Nealshow Productions' "My Dinner With Music," the second play from seasoned playwrights and co-directors Dave Satterwhite and Pat Radke. Satterwhite and Radke, both veterans of the Chicago music scene, have spent many late nights perfecting their belly-laugh riddled script. "A satire of the Chicago music scene and indie rock in general, 'Music' offers a candid look at just how far one second-rate punk group is willing to go for another shot at Billboard's Alt-Rock 100," says Satterwhite. Radke adds that "...Music" is filled with "dashed dreams, spooked screams, and corned creams. This dinner party delivers the gags faster than you can spell REM."

"My Dinner With Music" features Nealshow Productions veteran and former stockbroker Brian Labahn, most recently of "My Boy" fame. Labahn, though "unsure about doing another show with these...younger...men" is ultimately glad to be back. "'My Boy' was funny," he says, "if you're into weirder-style humor. But my mom couldn't come. Too many f-bombs, not enough family-friendly jokes. But Dave and Pat assured me with a handshake that this was a more cleaned-up script, and that there would at least be snacks. Since I'm retired, snacks is a guarantee of my presence, so I signed on the dotted line.

In addition to Labahn, "My Dinner With Music" also features Patrick Burch, Shelley DeHosse, Henry Clay, and Susan Rose.
