Cabaret with a View Returns 3/12 in Millennium Park

Cabaret with a View returns to the Jay Pritzker Pavilion on Monday, March 12 at 7:30 p.m. with singer/songwriter Paul Oakley Stovall and Brad Simmons in "The Next Best Thing to Love." Presented by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, in partnership with the Chicago Office of Tourism and Culture, the series offers audiences a chance to sit on the stage of the Jay Pritzker Pavilion to experience music in an intimate setting and a climate controlled environment. The evening will include both pop favorites as well as a sampling of Stovall's original music.

Tickets are $25 which includes seating at cabaret tables on the Pritzker Pavilion's stage level and two complimentary drinks, and $15 for seats in the Pritzker's choral balcony. All tickets are available by calling 312.742.TIXS (8497) or by visiting millenniumpark.org.  

Paul Oakley Stovall can be seen onstage in the world premiere of Ralph Ellison's landmark American novel, Invisible Man, at the Court Theatre through February 19. He received a Joseph Jefferson nomination for his work in the musical, Play On!, and appeared in Chicago in the national tour of Once on this Island and in Mary Zimmerman's Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci, Journey to the West and The Odyssey, among other plays. He toured nationally with Once on this Island and appeared in Tokyo in the world premiere Otonari No Dasso-Hei by Seito Ren. In New York, Stovall was seen  in the world premiere of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty's Dessa Rose at Lincoln Center.

As a writer, his plays have received their world premieres with Chicago's Dog and Pony Theatre Company, where he is a resident writer. His new musical, Clear, was developed at the Tony Award-winning Eugene O'Neill National Music Theatre Conference and has been seen at Joe's Pub and Dixon Place in New York and in Chicago at About Face Theatre's XYZ Festival. This June, his newly revised play, Immediate Family, will play the Goodman's Owen Theatre.

Paul Oakley Stovall's debut CD, Ghettos and Oceans, produced by ten-time Grammy winner, Steve Rodby, is available on iTunes and CDbaby (www.cdbaby.com/cd/intogreen). In addition, Stovall travels the country and the world proudly as an Advance Associate for the Obama administration.

Brad Simmons is a New York-based actor, singer, composer, musical arranger and musical director. He is known to moviegoers as the musical director in the hit film, Camp and was musical director of the show, Lysistrata Jones, on Broadway. Simmons is the arranger, musical director and co-star of the musical, Clear. His own musical Dreamworld is currently in development.
