Brown Paper Box Co.'s 'CHARACTER BREAKDOWN: A Miscast Cabaret' Set for 3/23

By:

The Brown Paper Box Co. presents CHARACTER BREAKDOWN: A Miscast Cabaret on Saturday, March 23 at 8pm. This one-night cabaret will feature appearances from The Brown Paper Box Co. artistic associates and former cast members performing as characters they would never play due to age, gender, voice type, race, etc. CHARACTER BREAKDOWN will be presented at Davenport's Piano Bar & Cabaret, 1383 N. Milwaukee Avenue.

"The idea sprouted when casting our most recent production of Godspell," says co-coordinator M. William Panek. "The character breakdowns listed in the script were so rigid and specific in terms of body type and how the original actor performed the role. We like to break the mold of how a show 'should' look or how characters 'should' be played based on previous incarnations. CHARACTER BREAKDOWN will be an exciting night to reexamine the characters we think we know in a relaxed cabaret setting."

Expect surprise song selections from composers David Yazbek, Jason Robert Brown, Stephen Sondheim, and more! Tickets for the one-night 8pm performance are $15 and there is a two-drink minimum at Davenport's Piano Bar & Cabaret. Ticketing information can be found at www.DavenportsPianoBar.com and www.BrownPaperBox.org.

The cast includes: T.J. Anderson (Godspell, The Brown Paper Box Company; Romeo vs. Juliet, Pretty Windy Theatre Company; Paradise Lost, The Agency Theater Collective), Megan Ensley (Godspell and 2012 Reefer Madness! staged reading, The Brown Paper Box Co.; Murder at the Scottish Rite, WSSR Signature Theatre), Katherine Glavin (Reefer Madness!, The Brown Paper Box Co.; Rudolph the Red-Hosed Reindeer, Hell in a Handbag Productions; Rocky Horror Picture Show, Ludicrous Theatre Company), Michelle Kritselis* (2012 Reefer Madness! staged reading, dramaturg for To Tree and Godspell, The Brown Paper Box Co.), Andrew Lund (Shakespeare's R & J, Idle Muse Theatre Co.; Storytown, iO Chicago; A Midsummer Night's Dream, Fury Theatre Co.), M.
