Big Noise rocks 43 Wigs, 40 Costumes & 25 cans of hairspray in Beehive!

Big Noise Theatre Company presents Beehive: The 60's Musical! September 26 through October 19 Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. at  The Prairie Lakes Theater 515 E. Thacker Street, Des Plaines.

Celebrate an era of love and rock 'n roll with the fun-filled production Beehive, the 60's Musical!  6 wailing women, 1 hot band, 43 wigs, 40 costumes, 25 cans of hairspray and over 40 of the greatest '60s hits. Beehive, the 60's Musical takes you on a journey through the look, sound and feeling of the girl groups and soloists of the 1960's.  It's a high voltage, fast –paced, light-hearted nostalgic look back at the 60's featuring songs made popular by The Chiffons, The Supremes, Aretha Franklin, Connie Francis, Lesley Gore, Petula Clark and more.

Director Nancy Flaster says she has wanted to mount Beehive with Big Noise for years. Having grown up in the era of big hair and big dreams, she has a special affinity for the music of the Sixties.  "We used to play records and dance to all this great music," she says.  Like Wanda, the narrator of Beehive, Flaster remembers every song and what each one meant to a girl (or boy) growing up through these sweet and turbulent years.  "It's nostalgia," Flaster says, "but it's also music that defined a time period and continues to survive today." Flaster, teamed with Choreographer Ann Fink and Music Director Joe Rosenmayer, hopes to bring audiences the fun, feel and joy of the girl groups and soloists of the Sensational Sixties.  And, of course, there's those hair styles "that got us through."  Beehives, flips, bubbles—"the styles were defining", she says.

Big Noise is honored to welcome the amazing wig design of Broadway's  Jason Hayes. Having recently finished Designing and Supervising The 75th Anniversary Radio City Christmas Spectacular, last fall Hayes was in Johannesburg, South Africa teaching his companies wig designs for the Opening of Hairspray in South Africa. He was up for consideration for nomination for the 2005 Oscar for Makeup & Hair for his Wig & Trans makeup designs for Felicity Huffman in Transamerica. Hayes was the Key Hair Stylist for the Fab 5 on Season III of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. Jason Hayes' designs for Beehive will take you back and make you laugh with their gravity defying ability and spectacularly classic 1960's beauty.
