Batterymouth Improv at Apollo Theater Studio

BATTERYMOUTH
Performs Improv at Apollo Theater Studio
January 21 - February 25, 2009

Batterymouth brings its unique and hilarious brand of improv to Chicago’s Apollo Theater Studio, 2540 N Lincoln Ave., every Wednesday night from January 21 through February 25, 2009.  Each week, a different Chicago improv group will perform as an opening act for Batterymouth.  The press performance is Wednesday, January 21 at 8:00 p.m.

Batterymouth
receives one suggestion from the audience and then performs an original 30-minute show using their own long-form structure—utilizing slam poetry-esque riffs, three-person scenes and character monologues to create an entertaining, humorous and rhythmic piece that focuses on character and theme.  One of the few three-person improv groups in Chicago, Batterymouth explores what’s hilarious about the relationships in our everyday lives.

Batterymouth is Dave Urlakis, Mark Walkley and Zack Whittington.  The trio met in February 2005 in iO Theater’s (formerly ImprovOlympic) long-form improv classes, which led to them performing together on iO’s Harold Team Skeleton Attack from March 2006 through August 2007.  After Skeleton Attack, they explored character-based improvisation together, which eventually grew into the formation of Batterymouth. They have previously performed at Donny’s Skybox and The Playground.

Opening acts include: The Fling (January 21), The Cosby Sweaters (January 28 & February 18), Nipple Competition (February 4 & 25) and Valid Hysteria (February 11).

Batterymouth performs Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m. at Chicago’s Apollo Theater Studio, 2540 N Lincoln Ave. Tickets for all performances cost $10 and are available at the Apollo Theater Studio Box Office at 2540 N. Lincoln Ave., by calling (773) 935-6100 or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
