Bailiwick Chicago will ring in the holidays with a diverse line-up of December events. First up, Resident Playwright Aaron Holland asks "What's holding you back from being as fabulous as you could be?" in a staged reading of the coming-of-age tale PRINCESS MARY DEMANDS YOUR ATTENTION, playing December 7 and December 8, 2013 at Victory Gardens' Richard Christiansen Theater. Then, celebrate the season with a throwback to the decade of The Beatles and Hair at A SEASON OF CHANGE: HOLIDAYS IN THE SIXTIES, a cabaret-style collection of songs from - and inspired by - the sixties, playing December 12 and December 19, 2013 at Davenports Piano Bar and Cabaret.

December 7 and December 8, 2013
PRINCESS MARY DEMANDS YOUR ATTENTION
A staged reading by Resident Playwright Aaron Holland
Directed by Artistic Director Lili-Anne Brown
at Victory Gardens' Richard Christiansen Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Ave, Chicago

PRINCESS MARY DEMANDS YOUR ATTENTION tells the story of late-bloomer Amari "Mari" Bolkonski: an agoraphobic, insecure, black, gay boy from the south. The play follows his ten-year journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance - with a little help from his friends and the recurring apparition of a beautiful, lip-syncing drag queen. Inspired by stories of Princess Mary in Tolstoy's War and Peace and set in post-911 Richmond, Virginia, this coming-of-age play with dance and music explores themes of self-acceptance, loss, religion, body image, sexual identity - and of course, love.

Saturday, December 7 at 4 pm and Sunday, December 8 at 2 pm. $10 suggested donation at the door. Reservations are highly recommended at www.bailiwickchicago.com.
