American Demigods to Present New Musical 'FANATICAL' at The Den Theatre, 6/30-7/19
The American Demigods, in conjunction with the Chicago Musical Theater present Fanatical: A Science Fiction Convention Musical, a new musical with music and lyrics by Matt Board and book by Reina Hardy. Directed by Kate Staiger with musical direction by Ellen Morris.
"Angel 8" is a cult science fiction TV show. It's also a lifestyle. To the fans gathered at the first-ever "Angel 8" convention, it's EVERYTHING. But when the unthinkable happens during show creator Scott Furnish's long-awaited keynote address, this group of lovable misfits must band together to prove that no power in the 'verse can keep a story from its fans.
Matt Board's previous musical Austentatious was called "sharp, funny and occasionally moving" by the Calgary Herald, and "very funny" by the New York Times. Reina Hardy's play Stars and Barmen was called "hysterical, sweet and wonderfully original" by Broadwayworld and her Glassheart was called "enchanting, funny and thought provoking" by the Washingtonian.Fanatical will be performed at The Den Theater (1333 N. Milwaukee) on the following dates:

Founded in 2009, American Demigods is a Chicago based not-for-profit theatre company dedicated to producing original works, and original productions of established works, which embody the qualities of excellence, beauty, and moral vision. Previous American Demigods productions have included Erratica: An Academic Farce by Reina Hardy, called "A smart little sleeper of a romantic comedy" by the Windy City Times, "sharp and sassy" by Chicago Theater Beat, and lauded for its "punch and verve" and "nimble wit" by the Chicago Reader. The company's board is comprised of Rory Leahy (Artistic Director), James Johnson (Managing Director), and Katherine Siegel.
