Catch the Butcher

Post Mortem Players, the Charlotte area’s only horror theatre company, in partnership with Comedy Arts Theatre of Charlotte will present Adam Seidel’s dark comedy Catch the Butcher. Originally presented Off-Broadway in 2015, the show is a witty mash-up of The Silence of the Lambs and modern suburbia.

Fascinated by a serial killer’s poems to his victims, Nancy sets out to find him. When she discovers herself in his basement …she likes it. The show has been described as “[an] effective blend of romance, absurdism, satire, and dread.”

Catch the Butcher is directed by Heather Wilson-Bowlby. The cast includes Jackie Obando Carter (Nancy), Chuck Riordan (Bill), and Jennifer Briere (Joanne).

Cast and Creative team for Catch the Butcher at Comedy Arts Theater of Charlotte

Cast

Jackie Obando Carter

Nancy
Jackie is thrilled to be portraying Nancy again with Post Mortem Players and making her debut at Comedy Arts Theater of Charlotte. Though she can typically be found directing or costuming, she was most recently seen as Miss Jessel in The Innocents; also with PMP at Old Courthouse Theatre last December, which she also was the costumer for. She would like to thank the cast and crew for being just the loveliest bunch of people to work with, and her family for their incredible support of all her theatrical endeavors. Also, a huge shout out to Abby for allowing PMP to haunt CATCh this spring, and my husband Logan for helping with social media. Lastly, Jackie implores you to please go and give a great big hug to all of the Nancys you know in your lives.

Chuck Riordan

Bill
Chuck is ecstatic to reprise the role of Bill with Post Mortem Players in Catch the Butcher. He was last seen as Peter Quint in PMP’s production of The Innocents. He would like to thank Chris Stonnell for his vision, dedication and everything he does for PMP. To our amazing crew for all their hard work. To Heather for her incredible direction, but more importantly her guidance. To Jackie and Jennifer, there are not enough ways to express the honor, privilege and gratitude for being able to share the stage with them every night. To Abby and CATCh for allowing us to bring this show to their stage. And of course to his amazing wife Jen for her undying support. This journey would not have been possible without her.

Jennifer Briere

Joanne
Jen is fairly new to the area and excited to be a part of her local theater scene! She did a lot of acting and directing in CT and RI and is adjusting to her new home in NC. She wants to thank her wife Nicole for encouraging her to audition, her son Max for his love and support, as well as the rest of her family and friends for coming out to see the show. She particularly appreciates the opportunity to be a part of this show and looks forward to doing more with Post Mortem Players.

Creative Team

Heather Wilson-Bowlby

A veteran of community theater, John has served in a variety of lighting and stage management roles to include Proof, Gods of Comedy, All Shook Up, You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown, Seussical, Steel Magnolias, and Nunsense. John recently received the Metrolina Theatre Association’s Award for Best Lighting Design – Non-Musical for Old Courthouse Theatre’s production of Proof.

Hilary Powell

Make-Up / SFX Design
Hilary is thrilled you’re here. If it were up to her, we would all be watching some form of horror every day of the week. Hilary spends her free time watching scary movies with her mom, decorating her house with macabre dolls and art, and going to haunted houses. After stepping away from theatre for ten years, it was The Addams Family musical at OCT that drew her back in, and she has continued the gruesome trend by performing in Hallowine, Monstersongs, and The Innocents with PMP since then. May we all catch The Butcher, before he catches us…

Aaron Bunzey

Light/Sound Operator
Aaron is excited to be returning to Post Mortem Players as the light & sound board operator. He works at the Children's Theatre of Charlotte downtown as the Marketing Assistant and enjoys working backstage in his free time. Nothing brings him more joy than hearing the reactions of audience members and creating an truly killer experience.

Jordan McKenzie Deese

Stagehand
Jordan is a native of Concord, NC. This is her her second production with Post Mortem Players and she is THRILLED (insert thriller music) to help backstage for first time. Last year she debuted with the musical Monstersongs playing a creepy/vixen siren. She has previously lived in Richmond, VA and Austin, TX where she did both stand-up and improv comedy for 9 years. This spring you can catch her in The Wedding Singer at Old Courthouse Theatre (guilty plug).

Orion Millaway

Abigail (Abby) Head

Executive Director, CATCh
Abby is an actor, writer, storyteller and filmmaker based in the Charlotte area since 1998. In 2013, as a break from the seriousness of her IT consulting business, she took a weekend improv course. Abby's weekend hobby quickly evolved into a new full-time pursuit of creative ventures. She founded independent film company The Queen's Miscreants, got involved in several improv teams and local theater, and (of course) co-founded the Comedy Arts Theater of Charlotte with Kevin Shimko in 2017. She currently performs with Dear Diary, A-Team, & on Game Night, and is often coaching various teams throughout the Charlotte community. When Abby has some free time, she enjoys playing board games with her three boys, planning her next film and watching her two beloved teams play their very different forms of football: The Alabama Crimson Tide and the US National Women's Team.
