If you've made the decision to give performing a try, Charlotte has great classes for whatever your passion; stand-up, improvisation or acting.

Stand-up: If you know you have a skewed inner-voice that turns situations upside down and makes you smile at the absurdity of life, then standup is something you should try. The Comedy Zone Comedy School with a group of instructors who are industry professionals, starts on March 18, 2013 for 6 Mondays from 7-10PM at The Comedy Zone Charlotte at the NC Music Factory. Hone your skills for stage presence, timing and writing techniques. This stand-up comedy class culminates with a May 13 Stand-up Showcase, perform your 3-5 minute set. For more information and class pricing call: (704) 877-1746 or DebbieMillwater@gmail.com.

Improvisation: If you have seen "Whose Line is it Anyway" with Drew Carey and you know you have the ability to be as quick and as fun as those guys on TV, this is the perfect opportunity for you. Over the Counter Improv Class with Paul Marks, starts on April 7, 2013 for 7 Sundays from 6-8PM at Office Suites Plus. During this improv course you will gain confidence, become less inhibited, enhance your listening techniques, think on your feet and develop leadership skills, while learning improvisation games. This class culminates with a private Graduation Improv Show. Over the Counter also performs shows in Charlotte. For more information and class pricing call: (704) 618-4203 or otcimprov@aol.com.

Acting: If you have always known that you have an award winning performance in you and you have envied those who call themselves actors, now is the time. I have an Acting & Scene Study Master Class at Charlotte Acting, which meets weekly at Spirit Square, starting on April 11, 2013 for 10 Thursdays from 7-9PM. You will learn "Method" acting techniques with sense memory, relaxation exercises, voice, improvisation and in-depth scene study using substitution, intent, personalization, creative hiding and physical action (the tools needed for emotional connection to a character). One class is devoted to "On camera" cold reading, the audition process and the "business of acting". The class culminates with your participation in a Showcase for family and friends on June 13. For more information and class pricing call: (704) 849-2025 or watt@charlotteacting.com.
