Two January Special Events Announced For Children's Theatre Of Charlotte

Children's Theatre of Charlotte welcomes two Special Events from Charlotte-based artists to the Wachovia Playhouse at ImaginOn in January. Omimeo Mime Theatre brings back their wildly popular "Black Light Magic" from Jan. 15-17, and Grey Seal Puppets performs a whimsical version of "The Emperor's New Clothes" from Jan. 29-31. In connection with "The Emperor's New Clothes," Grey Seal Puppets will be collecting clothing donations for Crisis Assistance Ministries.
Black Light MagicOmimeo Mime Theatre returns with a reprisal of their smash-hit "Black Light Magic" (Jan. 15-17). Charlotte's premier mime ensemble and special guest artists present an amazing display of visual artistry, weaving black light illusions together with the comedy and mystery of mime Included in this year's performance is their award-winning sketch "Ping Pong Matrix." Back by popular demand, this one-of-a-kind theatrical event has sold out completely the past several seasons that it has been offered. For ages 5+/Grades K+Performance times and dates:

The Grey Seal Puppets production "The Emperor's New Clothes" (Jan. 29-31) uses playful puppetry and a cast of animal characters to give a whole new dimension to Hans Christian Andersen's classic story. The Emperor just happens to be a pig; the crafty tailors are foxes; the prime minister a near-sighted camel; and the councilor, a befuddled old walrus. Even the audience takes part, as animals, of course. This fanciful take on a beloved fable illustrates the dangers of vanity and the rewards of being brave and honest. For ages 3+/Grades PreK+
