MIPSO is Live at Lee Street this Saturday!

By:

The indie folk band Mipso returns to the Lee Street theatre stage to shake up audiences and deliver a unique experience only they can. Originally from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, these Southern natives will delight you with their bluegrass infused tunes. Band members Jacob Sharp, who you'll hear on the mandolin, Joseph Terrell, guitar player, Wood Robinson, their bassist, and Libby Rodenbough, who's on the fiddle, were classmates at UNC-Chapel Hill, where the experience of singing together led them to a lifelong friendship and the formation of Mipso.

Guitarist Joseph Terrell said in an interview regarding their origins, "Our progressive college town shares a county with lots of old tobacco barns and farms and churches from the eighteenth century. We've chosen to stick around in this place where we're rooted, to reckon with and learn from its contradictions."

Their new album, Old Time Reverie, was released in 2015 and reflects on their growth as individuals and the music of Mipso. This new album puts bluegrass in the background as Mipso plays with new and invigorating sounds that give them a distinct twist rare in the industry. It's these tunes that landed them on Rolling Stone's list of favorite bands at DelFest 2016. You do not want to miss this inspiring and impressive band!

The performance is February 4th, 2017 at 7:30 and takes place in the Lee Street Theatre and Performing Arts Center at the Tom and Martha Smith Event Center on 329 N Lee Street, Salisbury, NC 28144. Doors open at 7:00pm. Tickets are $20+tax and available now online at www.leestreet.org or by phone: 704-310-5507.
