Davidson Community Players will hold auditions for actors and actresses of all ages, shapes and sizes for its upcoming summer productions: the classic Rogers and Hammerstein musical, OKLAHOMA! and the classic bedroom farce, NOISES OFF.
Auditions for the riotous backstage farce, NOISES OFF will be held at 7pm on March 29 and 30. Actors and actresses 18 and up are invited to attend. Auditions will begin at 7 p.m. and will consist of cold readings from the script. Auditionees should plan to arrive no later than 8 p.m. and need only attend one night of auditions. Bring a resume or list of theatre experience, a recent picture and a list of conflicts for the June/July 2010 time period. Callbacks for Noises Off will be held on March 31 and are by invitation only. Hailed as the funniest farce ever written, Noises Off is a hilarious comedy about putting on a comedy. It follows the onstage - and offstage - antics of an ailing acting company staging a production of a fictitious play called Nothing On. Noises Off will be directed by Jim Yost, whose production of Lend Me a Tenor for DCP played to record houses in July 2008.
Both productions will run for eight performances in the state-of-the-art Duke Family Performance Hall, on the campus of Davidson College. The Davidson Community Players is a non-profit organization established in 1965 to produce theatre that entertains, enriches and encourages community participation in the dramatic arts.
