It is 1956 and the world is abuzz with the news of actress Grace Kelly's impending wed- ding to Prince Rainier III of Monaco. From the seamstresses at MGM studios kept under lock and key creating the wedding dress to Catholic schoolgirls living vicariously through the plentiful tabloid rags, everyone is consumed by the media frenzy. No one more so than Grace Kelly's family and friends, who are intent on grabbing their own fifteen minutes of fame regardless of the cost to her reputation or happiness. Those surrounding the bride-to- be become more and more consumed with the attention they glean by association. Yet once the nuptials have concluded, and interest in their involvement wanes, the sudden finality of the wedding brings a slap of reality as they taste firsthand the fickleness of celebrity and the loneliness that only fleeting fame can bring.
This developmental production runs February 5-21, 2010 on a Thursday-Sunday schedule at the Booth Playhouse in Charlotte, NC. Rehearsals will be held on Saturdays and specified evenings.
Eye Opening Entertainment is located at 5960 Fairview Road, Suite 400, Charlotte, NC 28210.
Audition times must be reserved by email: bruce@EOEonline.com. Show information can be found at www.bygracethemusical.com.
