'An Evening with SUTTON FOSTER' Launches National Tour

By:

Tony Award® Winner Sutton Foster reunites with esteemed Music Director Michael Rafter for a national tour of An Evening with Sutton Foster, featuring Broadway show stoppers and selections from her debut album Wish. Produced by Fox Theatricals, the tour launched at The Sheldon Concert Hall in St. Louis on Thursday, February 4th. She will play Charlotte, North Carolina, March 20, 2010 at the McGlohon Theatre.

Additional cities and dates will be announced soon.

Sutton Foster has created starring roles in five consecutive Broadway musicals including Thoroughly Modern Millie (Tony Award® Best Actress in a Musical), Little Women, The Drowsy Chaperone, Young Frankenstein and most recently as Princess Fiona in Shrek The Musical. Foster has performed in concert at Lincoln Center's American Songbook series, Carnegie Hall with the New York Pops, Joe's Pub and Feinstein's. "Foster put on a dazzling display, amply demonstrating why she is Broadway's busiest musical comedy star," raves Steven Suskin of Variety on her Lincoln Center performance.

Foster's debut solo album Wish (Ghostlight Records) was recently released to critical acclaim under the music direction of Michael Rafter. "Just Perfect!" cheers Playbill Magazine. Rafter also served as Music Director of Foster's Lincoln Center concert. The New York Times wrote: "Michael Rafter's subtle, glowing arrangements created a softened 1920s sound, at once lilting and refined." The pair will collaborate once again in support of Foster's National Tour.

Rafter conducted Gypsy on Broadway, as well as the TV movie starring Bette Midler which earned him an Emmy Award® for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Music Direction. He has supervised the Broadway and/or national touring companies of Thoroughly Modern Millie, Sunset Boulevard, The Sound of Music, The Buddy Holly Story and the current hit Jersey Boys. His recent movie credits include Music And Lyrics (piano/vocal coach, produced vocals) and Did You Hear About The Morgans? (produced vocal and instrumental tracks) both starring Hugh Grant.
