Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's signature piece "Revelations" will play its final performance at Knight Theatre on February 14.

Hailed by The New York Times as being "rich with fine performers these days, both established and rising stars," Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater will soon bring the beauty, power, passion and artistry that are its hallmarks to audiences in Charlotte. Led by acclaimed Artistic Director Judith Jamison, the Company will present a diverse repertory of revered classics, recent favorites, exciting premieres and dramatic new productions.

Founded in 1958 by Alvin Ailey, the troupe is known for its vibrant artistry and repertory as well as for Mr. Ailey's humanist vision. The company of 30 dancers earned its nickname, "Cultural Ambassador to the World" because of its extensive international touring. AAADT has performed for an estimated 23 million people in 71 countries worldwide. Upon every new stage they promote the uniqueness of the African American cultural experience combined with the preservation and enrichment of the American modern dance.

**BEST OF 20 YEARS - over the last twenty years, Judith Jamison has commissioned or revived nearly 100 works, providing unparalleled opportunities for choreographers both renowned and newly discovered. This season, a "Best Of 20 Years" program features highlights from popular ballets she has brought to or revived in the Ailey repertory, representing a wide range of styles and voices that have contributed to the Ailey canon. Among the dances represented in this program are Ronald K. Brown's Grace, Donald McKayle's Rainbow Round My Shoulder and Jawole Willa Jo Zollar's Shelter.
