Co-Founders Abby Felder and Robbie Jaeger announce that Asheville Creative Arts' (ACA) Third Season will launch with THE TRUE STORY OF THE THREE LITTLE PIGS!, with script and lyrics by Robert Kauzlaric, music by Paul Givalry and William Rush, adapted from THE TRUE STORY OF THE THREE LITTLE PIGS by Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith, musical direction by Jonesalee, directed and choreographed by Robbie Jaeger, which will run tonight, Feb 26-Mar 1, 2015 at NC Stage (15 Stage Lane).

THE TRUE STORY OF THE THREE LITTLE PIGS! invites the whole family to learn the wolf's side of the story in a hilarious rock musical. Alexander T. Wolf (aka the big bad wolf) is accused of deplorable crimes. Audiences become a jury of his piggy peers and in the end everyone must decide: guilty or not guilty?

ACA's work has been called "Dazzling!" by the Mountain Xpress and "Excellent!" by the Asheville Citizen Times, and THREE LITTLE PIGS will continue the company's signature style of creating work that is as enjoyable to parents as it is to their children, which was established with previous hits, A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD and CHARLOTTE'S WEB. The company's third season will also include a musical adaptation of MISS NELSON IS MISSING! July 16-26, 2015.

"The play's clever script and catchy score, coupled with some moments of really fun audience participation, are inspired by the beautiful illustrations and cheeky text of the source book," says ACA Artistic Director, Robbie Jaeger. "The story plays with the idea of perspective, and will be a fun outing to the theater for all ages," adds ACA Producing Director Abby Felder.

Script writer and lyricist Robert Kauzlaric adds that "The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs is one of my favorite pieces of children's literature. When I read it I was struck by the way Scieszka dares kids to think for themselves, to allow for the possibility of conflicting narratives, and to question their assumptions about "happily ever afters" and "once upon a times." I also love the irreverent, noir feel of Smith's artwork. The challenge of attempting to transform this wonderful piece of art into a very different medium, to honor everything I love about it (and preserve as much original language as possible) while adding my particular stamp to it, was one I simply couldn't resist."

THREE LITTLE PIGS will once again be presented at NC Stage, Asheville's professional theater venue, as part of their Catalyst Series that provides marketing, administrative and technical support. It features a cast of professional actors: Brandon Gaunt, Glenn T. Griffin, Gina Jones, and Katy Shepherd. The production team includes puppets by Abby Felder, costumes by Robbie Jaeger; props by Chifferobe Home and Garden; lights by Eric Winkenwerder and Barbara Berry, and from New York City, set designer Gian Marco Lo Forte. Production coordinator is Jason Williams.

Tickets for THREE LITTLE PIGS are $12 (students and groups of 10 or more); and $23 (adults). For the first time, ACA will offer three special weekday matinee performances 2/26 at 10am and 12:30pm and 2/27 at 10am for elementary school students, which include a study guide created by honorary advisor Lucy Hazlehurst designed in accordance with Common Core Arts Learning benchmarks.
