The Contract is a Philadelphia premiere by James Webb, set within a Black megachurch community. A married couple and co-pastors attempt to maintain a carefully negotiated arrangement surrounding the husband's sexuality, until emotional complications threaten to dismantle the fragile structure they have built. The play examines internalized homophobia, secrecy, faith, and desire.
