Bios
NATALIA MARIÑO - Director
Director, actress, teacher and playwright, NATALIA MARIÑO holds a degree in Dramatic Arts from the University of Costa Rica with studies in Anthropology. She has been awarded the Costa Rican National Culture Award for Best Theater Direction for her work in Viola (1234).
Founder of Carmen Teatro (2013), within which she has carried out her main scenic projects such as “Un Cadáver exquisito”, “Ya no son las mismas flores”, “Viola (1234)” y “Monsieur”. She is the national coordinator for Costa Rica for the biennial of female dramaturgy 'La Escritura de la/s Diferencia/s' in Havana, Cuba, and is the first Central American to be selected to participate with a scholarship for the Internationales Forum of the Theatertreffen festival of the Berliner Festspiele - Goethe Institute (Berlin, 2018). Winner of the Theatre Production Award from the University of Costa Rica with the Proyecto Caramelo. Her work has been presented in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Peru, Mexico, Cuba, Spain and Germany.
RAMÓN MEJÍA “Perrozompopo” – Musical Composer
“Perrozompopo” is a Nicaraguan “cantautor”, a composer and singer whose work varies between rock with nuances pop, ska and Latin American protest music. His style is characterized by the mixture of Latin rhythms including reggae, Brazilian music, Latin American trova and other influences such as rap. He is currently one of the most recognized Central American artists.
MAGDALENA MORALES (Gloria)
Guatemalan scenic artist, actress, director, cultural researcher and facilitator of theatrical processes. Morales has worked with some of the most important directors of Central and South America. She founded the contemporary theatre group Kaji’ Toj’ whose works have been presented in Central America, Cuba and Spain.
Morales currently belongs to the Mayan artists movement Ruk’u’x, the Guatemalan Theater Network and the Consortium of Mayan and Mestizo Theatre Women.
ANTONIO ROJAS (Rick)
Actor and producer, Rojas studied at the National Theater Workshop in Costa Rica and at the Center for Scenic Studies of Andalusia in Granada Spain. He has participated in theatrical productions in Spain, Mexico, the National Theater Company of Costa Rica and Teatro Espressivo.
In 2011 he received the Costa Rican National Culture Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in the play "Mi vida alrededor de 500 metros" by Inmaculada Alvear. He is the winner of an Iberescena grant for a co-production between Spain, Mexico and Costa Rica, with the play "Atheist+God" by Enrique Olmos de Ita which was invited to become part of the repertoire of "Golem Theater".
