Red House Arts Center presents 13: The Musical, with music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown and book by Dan Elish and Robert Horn, playing in its MainStage theatre from July 30th through August 8th. In this production, following a move from New York City to small-town Indiana, young Evan Goldman grapples with his parents' divorce, prepares for his impending Bar Mitzvah, and navigates the complicated social circles of a new school. 13: the Musical focuses on the fun-filled adventure of navigating through a world of cool kids & nerds, jocks & cheerleaders, first kisses & heartbreak. Will Evan come to understand how to survive the school year, not to mention, the rest of his life?

13: The Musical is the first and only Broadway musical to have an all teenager cast and band in the history of Broadway. The musical premiered on January 7, 2007 at The Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles, California and ran through February 18, 2007. The production was directed by Todd Graff, with choreography by Michele Lynch. This production received a nomination for the 2007 LA Stage Alliance Ovation Awards, World Premiere Musical. The musical opened on Broadway at the Bernad B. Jacobs Theatre on September 16, 2008 in previews, with an official opening on October 5, 2008 and closed on January 2009 after 105 performances and 22 previews. The production received one Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Lyrics by Brown. 13: The Musical has been performed worldwide, in multiple countries, which include Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, Australia, Israel and Belgium. In 2014, CBS Films announced that they intend to produce a film adaption of the musical. The screenplay is set to be written by Bert V. Royal, with producers Laurence Mark, Bob Boyett and executive producer, David Blackman. Jason Robert Brown is expected to oversee the adaptation's music and lyrics.

This Redhouse production will feature many professional actors as well as students from our Summer Theatrical Institute. The purpose of theatrical institute is to give students opportunity to apply their skills in a professional setting. Students take classes during the day, rehearse at night in preparation for run of the show. The students work alongside a cast that includes NYC professional actors J. The production team includes Patrick Burns (Director and Musical Director), Chad Tallon (Production Manager), Chris Coffey & Jason Belanger (Associate Musical Directors), Erin Lafferty (Choreographer), Katharine Tarkulich (Costume Designer), Marie Yokoyama (Lighting Designer), and Dana Katz (Stage Manager).
