Armstrong fans and jazz lovers are invited to come celebrate the highly anticipated Armstrong biography written by today's top Armstrong scholar, Ricky Riccardi. Encountering prejudice on the road and at home in Queens, New York, while often called an Uncle Tom for playing to segregated crowds, Louis Armstrong faced a complex reality as both artist and entertainer In What a Wonderful World: The Magic of Louis Armstrong's Later Years, Riccardi channels that experience through use of Armstrong's home-recorded tapes, on which he talks frankly about racism, prejudice and life on the road. Terry Teachout, author of Pops: A Life of Louis Armstrong, says of Riccardi's book, "The story of Armstrong's later years is the great untold story of postwar jazz. Now Ricky Riccardi has told it to perfection."

What other critics are saying: "One of the best biographies of the summer!" - Chicago Tribune
"This book sets the standard in assessing and analyzing Armstrong's performances in the second half of his career. Even those who already think they know Armstrong well will be surprised and delighted--and probably walk away with new respect for this seminal figure in American music." - San Francisco Chronicle Ricky Riccardi is considered today's leading Armstrong scholar. He is the archivist at the Louis Armstrong House Museum administered by Queens College, CUNY, and is the author of a popular Armstrong blog,dippermouth.blogspot.com. Riccardi holds a Master's in Jazz History and Research from Rutgers and has presented on Armstrong at the Institute of Jazz Studies, The National Jazz Museum in Harlem, and at the annual Satchmo Summerfest in New Orleans.
