DO BLACK PATENT LEATHER SHOES REALLY REFLECT UP? at MGR, 8/24

By: Aug. 22, 2011

Heartwarming and laugh-out-loud funny, Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up?follows a loveable gang of kids as they travel through that special place that was Catholic School in the early 1960's. Follow them as they go from first confession to first date, all under the watchful eyes of Father O'Reilly and the good Sisters. With a classic soundtrack and relatable characters, this story will touch students of all ages.

We follow Eddie Ryan, played by David Scott Purdy and his best friend Becky Bakowski, played by Ithaca College graduate Kimberly Burns, who played Erma in MGR's recent production of Anything Goes. The relationship between Becky and Eddie is tested and the two realize they must never forget the lessons they learned as children. Guiding them along the way, Sandra Karas and Alan Clugston reprise their roles as Sister Lee and Father O'Reilly respectively from MGR's first production of Black Patent in 1995. Lauren Devine and Courtney Love, from this season's Hairspray, along with other MGR favorites including Maddy Apple, Aleka Emerson, Michael Muñoz, and Daniel Scullin round out the cast.

Producing Director of Merry-Go-Round Playhouse Ed Sayles directs and Mark Goodman returns as Musical Director. MGR veteran Lori Leshner choreographs the exceptionally talented cast. No matter where you went to school, audiences are sure to be delighted.
