A NIGHT ON FIRE Turns Up the Heat in Sleepy Hollow

By:

Historic Hudson Valley kicks off the July 4 holiday weekend with a fire-juggling event that could rival any display of fireworks. During "A Night on Fire," visitors will be able to watch flame-wielding, fire-eating performers light up the night Friday through Sunday, June 30-July 2, at Philipsburg Manor.

A Night on Fire is a one-hour choreographed performance featuring juggling, dancing, spinning, and sword fighting by A Different Spin, part of the Boston Circus Guild. Musician Jim Keyes offers pre-show entertainment and enlightens guests on the history of the traveling circus. Those looking to cool down after all the adrenaline-pumping action can dig into Blue Pig of Croton's homemade ice cream. The event is ideal for all ages.

Performances are at 8:30pm on Friday, 8 and 9:30pm on Saturday, and 8pm on Sunday.

Seating is limited and Historic Hudson Valley recommends purchasing tickets for A Night on Fire in advance at http://www.hudsonvalley.org/events/night-fire. Tickets online are $22 for adults and $16 for children 17 and under. Members of Historic Hudson Valley receive a $5 per ticket discount. There is a $2 per ticket surcharge for purchases made over the phone or in person.

More about Philipsburg Manor
In 1750, Philipsburg Manor, which includes a working water-powered gristmill and new world Dutch barn, was home to 23 enslaved individuals known to have lived and labored there. It is the country's only living history museum that focuses on the history of northern slavery.

Philipsburg Manor is at 381 North Broadway (Route 9) in Sleepy Hollow, N.Y., two miles north of the Tappan Zee Bridge. Information: 914-366-6900, www.hudsonvalley.org.
