Come to Fort Caspar Museum for Crafts, Stories, and Valentines

Come to Fort Caspar Museum on Saturday, February 10th for back-to-back family fun. Drop in between 1:00 and 3:00 pm for a Valentine-making workshop, then stick around for "Fremont's Story & Craft Hour" at 3:00 pm.

Between 1:00 and 3:00 pm, come to the Museum's classroom for a hands-on, family-friendly workshop to learn how to make several different Valentines the old-fashioned way. These hand-made cards of paper, ribbon, and doilies are sure to be treasured! This is a great activity on a cold winter day.

At 3:00 pm, they will shift gears and have Fremont Story Hour & Crafts. They will read aloud the book "Tatanka and the Lakota People." This is the Lakota creation story of Tatanka, a holy man who sacrificed his powers by turning himself into a bison to help humans survive. After listening to the story, children may make and color a paper "parfleche" (a container traditionally made out of a bison hide). They will also have a real hide and other items made from bison parts for participants to examine.

Both programs are open to all ages and require no reservations. They are free with paid museum admission, which is free for children ages 12 years and under. (Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.) The museum admission fee for adults is $1.50, and the fee for youth (13 to 18 years) is $1.00.
