Theatre summer camp in Shawnee on Delaware, PA
The Shawnee Playhouse, a historic theater established in 1904 in Shawnee on Delaware, Pennsylvania, runs the Shawnee Theatrical Arts Resource School (S.T.A.R.S.) summer camp program. Camps introduce children to many aspects of theatre through stage movement, dance, music, art, creative games, role-play and scene study, with campers also learning acting, theatre etiquette, terminology, costuming and makeup. Each week has its own theme, and in the exploration camps the campers create their own shows; every session ends with a staged performance. Camps run 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM daily, snacks are provided and campers bring a lunch. Camp size is limited, and material for each week is customized to the group. The program is overseen by executive director Midge McClosky, who created S.T.A.R.S., with a camp director and summer intern staff. Registration for the 2026 season is open.
Snacks are provided and campers pack a lunch. Camp size is limited. Paperwork and schedule details are emailed two weeks before each camp begins. In the exploration camps the campers create their own shows around the week's theme.
