Vacamas Programs For Youth

Hands In 4 Youth, home of Camp Vacamas, is a non-profit overnight camp on 256 Macopin Road in West Milford, New Jersey, less than 45 minutes from New York City. Founded in 1924, it runs 12- and 19-day sleepaway sessions for campers ages 6-17, along with a weekday day camp for children in kindergarten through eighth grade, school-year afterschool programs, and a conference and retreat center. Facilities include a lakeside beach for swimming, canoeing and boating, indoor and outdoor basketball courts, a zip line, climbing walls, a low and high ropes challenge course, hiking trails, a ball field, and indoor and outdoor stages.. Fees are set on a sliding scale based on family income and size, and free bus transportation is offered from New York City, Westchester and selected New Jersey pickup points. It is accredited by the American Camp Association and has an on-site medical team.
