About this camp
Catalina Island Camps is a coed resident camp at Howlands Landing on Catalina Island, California, established in 1922 and run from an office in Altadena. The program is built around the island's marine and land environments and includes kayaking, snorkeling, paddleboarding, sailing, archery, rock climbing and hiking. One-week sessions serve campers currently in 1st through 9th grade and act as an introduction to resident camp with cabin-group scheduling; two-week sessions, open to 2nd through 9th grade, add camper-choice activities in the second week plus an overnight, a camp dance, an awards banquet and a closing campfire. A Camper in Leadership Training track is offered for 10th graders. The camp also runs a school-year outdoor education program and the Jean-Michel Cousteau Family Camp.
One-week sessions are open to campers currently in 1st-9th grade; two-week sessions to 2nd-9th grade, with campers choosing their own activities in the second week. Campers in 10th grade attend the Camper in Leadership Training program during Sessions Three and Four. A non-refundable $250 deposit is due at registration.
